The Recreation Ground on Camberwell Church Street is pretty pleasing on entering – kitsche decor (nicely done out with old lampshades and 70s and 80s memorabilia), bar staff who say hello as you walk in and a good range of beers and drinks.
While the rest of the pub has got potential, the Sunday roast dinner was pretty disappointing. The menu sounds good, using locally sourced ingredients etc but the beef was stringy and gristley and quite inedible in parts. Roast vegetables looked like they were going to be great but had been cooked in burnt oil which ruined the flavour.
Recommended for a drink but not to eat.
