Andrew Edmunds – Soho

Tucked up a quaint Soho side street full of small, independent eating places (like Mildred’s vegetarian), you could be forgiven for walking past Andrew Edmunds and not even noticing it. From the outside it has the appearance of a residential town-house, rather than a restaurant.

Shabby but nice

On stepping inside, it’s a cosy, candle-lit restaurant with the feel of being inside someone’s front room. Specials are chalked on boards on the walls while the daily menu is neatly hand-written and photo-copied. For gastro food in such a unique, homely setting, this is not expensive.

I opted for the fish of the day while R had a risotto. Including a bottle of wine the total bill came to £64 (£32 each) – very reasonable. Because it’s small, it soon feels packed and you do need to book in advance. Service wasn’t particularly friendly or efficient, but given that everything else was so good, that won’t deter me from coming here again.
