Papaya Mayfair

Update 2011
Papaya’s become my most frequented lunch spot over the past 18 months. Their sushi is amazing (and really good value) but you have to snap it up quickly as it goes within minutes of being put out on the shelf.

I’m totally hooked on their vegetable green curry, packed with tofu (the spongy-texture kind that absorbs all the flavours, not the custard-texture type), mushrooms, peppers, courgettes, etc.

Tasty, fresh and good value – you just can’t go wrong with Papaya. For being so consistently good, Papaya’s been upgraded to 4/5 in the Lardbutty index.

Feb 2010:
An excellent little Thai take-away on Lansdowne Row (“Sandwich Alley”) near Berkeley Square, Mayfair. It’s £4.00 for a box of a delicious, freshly made Thai dish with steamed rice (options include green curry, red curry, massaman, penang chicken, tofu + mushroom), more for egg-fried rice or noodle dishes, and a selection of sushi too.

While it’s mostly take-away, there are a few seats to sit in. Queues are long but move quickly over lunchtime.
