A small vegetarian cafe on Berwick Street, Beatroot offers a selection of hot and cold food which changes daily.

Main dishes are likely to include spinach and ricotta flan, moussaka, shepherd’s pie, lasagne and curry of the day, along with interesting side vegetables and salads such as grated beetroot and sesame seeds, taboullah or mixed beans and beansprouts.

A popular lunch time cafe, it’s usual to have to queue a short while (that it’s busy is a good indicator of the food quality) and you can fill a take-away lunch box (three sizes: small £4.20, medium £5.20 or large £6.20) with any combination of hot food and salads to get a really tasty, nutritious and filling meal.

The picture below shows the contents of a medium box – spinach flan and salads – which more than fills a dinner plate.

Beatroot – medium lunch box contents

One of the best things about Beatroot lunch boxes is having a really good, hearty (pig out) meal safe in the knowledge that it’s all really good for you! I’ve had many lunch boxes from Beatroot over the years and look forward to many more.
