Thai at Ye Grapes, Shepherd Market

Ye Grapes is one of several good old real ale pubs in Shepherd Market, and serves both traditional British pub grub and Thai food in its small dining room upstairs.

Thai food is straightforward, tasty and pretty good value. There’s a lunchtime special: any starter and main course for £8.95 (add £1 for a seafood, prawn or duck main course); it’s a fairly short menu with all the usual suspects like red or green curry with vegetables, meat or seafood, and noodle options.

There are only a few tables so booking ahead on the website is recommended. I visited here at lunchtime today, and while the food was very good, service was dismally slow (a few tables were obviously frustrated).
