Qzine – Clitheroe

Mediterranean Bistro and Burger House

Tucked in a corner of the quaint Swan Courtyard in Clitheroe, Qzine could be mistaken for a tiny burger bar from the outside. Through the large window you can see into the ground floor open kitchen area where there are a couple of tables.

Enter inside and the main restaurant is on the first floor – a cosy room with a high ceiling and wooden beams, and rustic stone walls.

On our visit on Saturday night, we were greeted by a friendly waiter who led us up to the first floor. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco @ £18.50 and for starters shared houmous and falafel @ £3.90 and grilled halloumi @ £4.50.

There’s an appealing menu offering a variety of falafels (‘just falafs’), chargrilled meats, fish, Moroccan dishes, pizza but we couldn’t resist the house speciality – burgers.

I had a Smoke On The Water with smoked bacon, shredded lettuce, Cajun sauce and hot Cheddar @ £8.80 (absolutely gorgeous), and K had a Joe Le Taxi with bacon, avocado, lettuce and cheese @ £9.50 and did the ‘mega upgrade’ @ £1.50 whereby you get an additional beef burger (two burgers totalling roughly 1lb of pure ground steak). We split the baked potato and chips between us (the chips were outstanding, I’m guessing they were twice fried being so crisp on the outside and soft in the middle).

This was a really good meal, with both great quality food and service from our friendly, quirky waiter (he was helpful and embellished his banter with a couple of amusing anecdotes).

The total bill came to £57.00 (which we rounded up to £65 to cover the excellent service we’d received). Two very satisfied customers.

I’d eat here again if in Clitheroe or Skipton (where a new branch has just opened).
