Rodizio Rico – Lardbutty’s worst restaurant

Lardbutty ‘worst restaurant in London award’ goes to Rodizio Rico

After dining at Santa Maria del Sur (Argentine cuisine) with a bunch of steak loving friends last year, the same group of us decided to try the Brazilian meat-fest at Rodizio Rico, Westbourne Grove.

The speciality here is ‘eat as much as you desire BBQ meats, salads and hot dishes’ for £22.50 a head. This sounds like a good deal – after all, it’s about £25 for a platter of (limited) freshly cooked meats at Santa Maria.

At Rodizio Rico, serving staff bring cuts of meat to each table – continually – all night, and you can help yourself to an extensive selection of cold food from the salad bar. While the menu describes the limitless meat as ‘prime cuts’ the meat quality is questionable.

Much of the meat we were served was gristle or fat or in some way inedible: sausages and some beef cuts were extremely greasy, mildly warm and wholly unappetising. Chicken and other cuts were overcooked, burnt, dry and – well, downright disgusting. The cold salad selection vastly out-ranked the meat options.

We visited the Westbourne Grove branch on a Saturday night a few months ago. It was packed and had a queue the whole time we were there (I’d be surprised if any were repeat customers). Service was poor and we left five very disappointed customers.

I won’t be eating again at Rodizio Rico.
